Listen and You will hear.

We all hear the sounds around us, be it the radio, TV, someone talking, someone singing, the sounds of traffic, the cry of a newborn babe, the laughter of loved ones, and the list can go on and on. :-)

The sounds that I wish to talk about are the sounds of the voices of exprience. Those that come before us, and helped to make our lives much easier.  Those who have laid a path for the future generations to come. We will be the ones, some day to pass our experience onto the younger generations that will follow us.

I am talking about our Mothers, and Fathers, our Grandparents, our Aunts, and Uncles.  The elderly that hold the secrets to our past history. If we listen, we will see that they will enhance our lives. The elderly hold many tails of adventure, and secrets we did not know.

I am very fortunate to have had such an encounter,  in the past few days. The encounter was with my step-dad, a man of great knowledge.

He gave us stories, and facts about the area he grew up in, and shared his talent with us as well. My step-dads’ name is Russ, and my Mom Viola.

We talked about the War, and how the German army plotted to blow up the rail bridge, I spoke about in my last blog. The stories of a prisoners of war camp in the area. This was some thing unknown by myself, and my husband. We can learn many fascinating things  by  just listening.

Many of missing childhood memories are filled in by my MOM.  Dad, has a musical talent and is well known in the area for playing music. The plaque pictured below was given to him for his dedication to the “Back-to-the Olde-tyme Country-music event , held yearly at Restoule Provincial Park.   He plays the mouth organ, and does it real fine. You will feel your toes a tappin’  to the beat, as his mouth organ sends a zippy tune into the air around you. The tune brings up the most wonderful feelings inside of you. I could not help to feel the happiness as his music filled the air. ” I was Happy.”  My husband brought his instruments with him and the tunes filled the air with delightful sounds.

So, when you happen upon someone who wishes to talk with you, take the time, and Listen. You expand your knowledge, and make  someone feel special at the same time. We should all take sometime out of our busy days to visit with those we love, or those living in retirement homes. A visit  from anyone will make thier day.  :-)

Have you taken the time to listen lately?  :-)
