On the open road.

Today is a traveling day for us, our grandson is going home. So, here we are on the highway, and in a never ending line of vehicles. There are cars, semi- trucks, cube vans, and various other types of vehicles. There are people hurrying to work, or some hurrying home from work, and some just like us, on their way to bring someone home. Whatever we may be doing we are all in the very same line up. At least we have good weather for this trip. The sun is shining, the cool air blows in the windows of your vehicle as we face the aphalt hustle. I would say, “not a bad day at all, other than the back up.
The asphalt highway is never ending in front of us. Brake lights flashing from time to time, as we slow to a crawl then speed up again. Watch the driver behind, the one in front, the one beside. Keep your eyes on the road, and your hands on the wheel.
Driving under these conditions can be quite nerve wracking at times. We need all our wits about us for the trek ahead of us. The only one on this trip that does not seem to be minding the stop and go is our puppy. She is just happy to be along for the ride.
Approaching the exit, can only mean that we will be away from the chaos for awhile, and a chance to relax. Loosen the grip from the wheel, and stretch out the tense muscles. “Ah to be at ease.” We have arrived, the streets are calm, and quiet. Most of its inhabitants are still asleep, off in dream land, oblivious to the chaos that the highway holds.
After a quick recharge, we are on the road again, heading home. The highway has not changed much. The traffic is still heavy, but moving along smoothly. The humming of the tires against the warm ashalt could lull a baby to sleep, if it were not for the odd bump that jars the bones as you bounce over the sections of the highway that are under construction. “ Oh, the open road, a memory that forever lingers on in the minds of man.”

The highway can hold many mishaps, but for us today, all has gone smoothly, and fairly enjoyable. I would chance to say, ” a very good trip.” We will set out to do the asphalt hustle again, but for today, we are home safe and sound. Our journey has come to an end.
Now that we are home, and happy to be here. We can relax and kick back. If you chance to travel the asphalt highway, be careful, be safe, and may the sun shine upon you and yours.
Are you ready for your journey?
