Spring has come our way.

Furry little worm like critters are setting up house all over the land in any tree, bush, or plant around. These are not handsome critters, and have a reputation for destroying the plants they invade.

Tent Caterpillars

Getting rid of them can be a regular job for the gardener, and home owner.

To keep with the green planet theme I would like to give you my solution to getting them under control. I make a potion of very hot water, and dish soap. Not too much dish soap we don’t want to give them a bubble bath.

Yuk Yuk Yuk

Opening the nest is the first thing to do. To open the nest take a very ” long” stick and open the pod. This action can bring on a freaky feeling, as the worms wiggle around as they are subjected to the warm air.

It is now time to pour the hot water solution over the exposed critters. ”Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot water. ” The soap, along with the hot water will kill them off.

If you have a sprayer you can load it up with this solution and spray the plants. Make the water luke warm at this point. The dish soap puts a coating on the plant and will kill the chewing bugs.

I use one drop of dish soap in my house plants to control house plant pests. It may seem strange, but it works well.

We are in charge of this worlds vegetation, so our future generations can enjoy them.

Pass on your little green solutions to those younger than you.

” The planet depends on US.”

This great round ball we live on; sustains the lives of many large or small. Turning on invisible axis it turns ever slowly, as we spin silently into the seasons of our years.

The sun brings us warmth. It helps our food to grow, the plants to thrive, and helps the smiles on our face seem brighter. The moon brings us darkness, a chance for all to rest, and rejuvenate . The moon brings the changing tides of the seas in an ever changing cycle of life.

Our planet called; “Earth.”

With out it we would not be. Just endless vibrations floating lazily in space. For a place so vital to our existence we treat this planet with little respect. For far too many centuries to count. We have tossed our waste to the wind, and where it lands has never seemed to be our bother. Such a fragile state this planet has become.

Oh; we have taken note of some of the changes we must adapt in order to save this world. But, not all of us have taken heed to the warnings of those who see what most of us cannot. Can we not hear the warnings given by this planet.

The rumbling of volcanoes as ash chokes the life from all around it. The shaking of the ground beneath our feet. The explosions of man made off shore oil rigs that fall into the seas, leaving nothing but an uncontrollable slick of dark crude oil , heading for the very land we live on. Covering our helpless wild life in toxic covers of death.

The train that falls of the track too close to home of sleeping people unaware as to what has just happened. “Run from your home, the spill is of a dangerous nature, and you are at risk”.

The waves of an angry sea that bridge the walls that are deemed safe enough to save lives. Many people lost, and many more unaccounted for. The sea has taken them away, or the earth has swallowed them up. A snow storm where none has ever been seen before, a drought that scorches the earth, destroying the food we need to survive.

The lakes, ponds, and streams left barren. You can hear gasping of a water creature breaking the silence of the once rolling brook.

Are these not signs that we should see, and pay attention to? What the heck is wrong with us? What will we leave our future generations to come?

No clean cool streams, and lakes. A cool drink of life sustaining waters would be gone. What would we leave but a shattered planet no longer capable of sustaining life.

Is this what you want? ” Not Me.” I want to leave a planet full of life for others to share. Let’s pull together and make a difference and make this planet shine.

“Because we don’t own this planet, we just rent it.”
